The Phoenix Catholic Charities Community Services hired Laura Toussaint-Newkirk as its Marketing and Communications Manager. Click on her name to see her LinkedIn profile.
She has NEVER worked in a newsroom and has NO news media experience. There are more than 1,000 unemployed journalists and seasoned public relations professionals in the Four Corners region. This is the best this organization can hire?
You are encouraged to keep your donations away from ANY organization practicing discrimination like this.

Men unprotected minority in workforce
13-million out of work
In 1969, the world's greatest president, Richard M. Nixon issued an executive order to make females a minority in the eyes of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
Since 2002, the Department of Labor reported 52 percent of the workforce was female. In 2009, the media is just discovering that fact. Since men are now the minority, when do we get an executive order protecting them under the Civil Rights Act?
This weekend, following Friday's August job report, we discovered that since Nov. 2007, not four or six million jobs were lost, but 16-million. That means men, who have suffered the greatest losses, 80%, have lost 13-million jobs.
Women unemployed numbers are 8 percent and men 12 percent. The media reported if part time and discouraged workers were included, men would be at 17 percent.
There would be a public outcry if that were women, gays, Native Americans or other minorities. Fine that it's men, preferably (and it is) older men.

Andrus Children's Center of Yonkers, New York discriminates against men
Yonkers, NY Andrus Children's Center recently filled a Communications and Volunteer Coordinator - with a female. One male, who uses his initials and sister's email address, was called for an interview.
When he called the person back who left the message to schedule the interview, when the female Andrus Children's Center employee discovered the candidate was male, said, "We were just checking your email address, is this it." No interview was forthcoming for the position.
EEOC says that's fine and okay, since 80% of all job losses in the past two years have been men and women dominate the workforce. Even though they are protected by the Civil Rights Act as amended in 1969. Why is that still on the books - and being used against men?
